Routine Appointments

Depending on what you need to see a GP about, we may offer a routine appointment. These are non-urgent appointments for discussing long-term conditions, new referrals, a new (non-urgent) diagnosis, test results, or private administration requests. These will be offered as telephone calls or face to face.

Urgent Appointments

We provide urgent appointment availability with one of our GPs. These appointments are released on the day from 8am. All of our appointments will be triaged and you will be seen or signposted to ensure you receive the most appropriate care.

It is important to know some of the warning signs that may need urgent attention. Please see below for some of the warning signs.

Chaperones

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present during any consultation, examination, or procedure. This applies to patients of all genders and ensures your comfort, privacy, and safety.

What is a Chaperone?

A chaperone is a trained, impartial staff member (such as a nurse, healthcare assistant, or trained receptionist) who remains in the room with you during an intimate examination.

Their role is to:

  • Provide emotional support and reassurance.
  • Ensure your dignity and privacy are respected.
  • Act as an impartial observer during the examination.

Requesting a Chaperone

You can request a chaperone at any time, whether you are seeing a male or female clinician. It is best to ask when booking your appointment so we can arrange for a trained staff member to be available. However, if you change your mind during the appointment, just let your clinician know.

Please note: While you may bring a family member or friend for emotional support, they do not fulfill the role of an impartial, trained professional. We will often ask if you would also like a staff chaperone present.

If a trained chaperone is not available at the time of your request, your clinician will offer to reschedule your examination for a mutually convenient time.

When a Clinician May Request a Chaperone

For their own safety and to prevent any misunderstandings, our clinicians may also request that a chaperone be present during certain intimate examinations. If you decline this request, the clinician may choose to postpone the examination.

All chaperones are bound by strict patient confidentiality rules. If you have any questions, please speak to our reception team.
